The French Film Series will conclude for the semester next week with Holy Motors on Wednesday, March 26th at 7 pm in 113 Carnegie (free admission).
This film, directed by Léos Carax, is a lamentation for and celebration of cinema. The film’s main character, Monsieur Oscar (Denis Lavant), is a professional chameleon who transforms into 12 different personas over the course of a single day. Oscar journeys through the streets of Paris by limousine as he continually reinvents himself, exhausting work that he still pursues for “the beauty of the act.
Holy Motors won the Prix de la Jeunesse at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, as well as Best Film, Best Actor, and Best Cinematography at the 2012 Chicago International Film Festival.
